Chris and I just wanted to let you know we thought you hit it way outta the park with this event. We had the best day on the mountain that we can remember. Johnny and Nelson were so warm and fun to be with. They were incredibly gracious with their time and attention Johnny even went out of his way to introduce himself to the boys, and Nelson engaged Ben in some great conversation! On top of that, all the people in our group were just super. It was an honor to ski with Heather, and Linda is so full of energy was incredibly kind to everyone. It was so special for us to feel like we are really part of this town and all the great people and events that go with it. If there is ever anything we can do to help you out, just name it. I would love to personally thank both Johnny and Nelson for their time. If you can forward this to them or give me some email addresses for those guys, that would be great. Thanks again for an incredible experience!

I just wanted to drop you… a note of thanks.  You really helped pull it all together at the last min to make it an amazing offering for our skiers.  We really do look forward to being a part of this event again next year and know that this first year was just training and the next one will be even more amazing with even more money raised for the cause.

I just recently participated in the Ski 4 Yellow event in Steamboat Springs Colorado.  I had a phenomenal time and could not have been more grateful to be involved in such a fantastic and powerful event.  I wanted to tell you how amazing this event was and how special it was for me having a mom who recently survived cancer.  With something so spread so far and wide to many different people, it was moving to see such an eclectic group of people coming together with a common interest, defeating cancer.  The support from everyone involved in the event was beyond superb.  Although hesitant to sign up I made the choice and it couldn’t have been more perfect.  Those who helped sign people up including the locals at the christee sports were thoughtful and charismatic when representing livestrong.  The next day while I was still nervous I was anxiously greeted by the man who helped me register and impressively remembered my name. I could not have felt more welcomed into this community.

To all Ride4Yellow Leadership Board, Committee and Volunteers- Thanks to all on the Committee this year working hard to fight Cancer! Cancer will be beaten in this life. As a participant/fund raiser/donor in this year’s Ride4Yellow, it was simply fun to be a small part of a well-run event.  The efforts by each individual involved, at all levels, in the Ride4Yellow effort make me proud of Steamboat as a community. We should all celebrate the money we raised this year and be even more motivated for next year.  Great job to you and the entire team for the work this year to make the event all that I could have hoped for. As a fund-raiser, I hope we can make Ride4Yellow even bigger and better in 2012! Let’s keep working to beat Cancer at all cost!

This past weekend, I had the privilege of being a part of the second annual Ski 4 Yellow weekend.  It was a wonderful and exhausting experience, and it was truly an honor to be a part of making a difference.  Our team went out for dinner Saturday evening after everything was over and sat around trying to figure out how to describe this event to others.  We all agreed that there’s really no way to do it justice.  Telling you that it was a scavenger hunt, a fundraiser, or a ski competition fail to capture the spirit of fun, camaraderie, and being a part of something so much bigger than yourself.

The Ski 4 Yellow weekend started on Friday night with a banquet honoring cancer survivors and top fundraisers, educating everyone about LIVESTRONG’s mission, and handing out grants to local organizations.  One of the most touching stories of the night came from a woman who had helped organize the inaugural Ski 4 Yellow event and was shortly thereafter diagnosed with breast cancer.  She learned firsthand the resources that are provided by LIVESTRONG for cancer patients.

Our team of four people raised over $5,000 dollars for the 4 Yellow Foundation and LIVESTRONG!!  I personally raised over $1,500 thanks to you!  Half of the money raised stays at the local level here in the Steamboat area, and half of it goes to support LIVESTRONG’s global mission.  I honestly did not know a lot about LIVESTRONG prior to this weekend, but what I learned impressed me greatly.  LIVESTRONG provides support for people who are currently battling cancer and for cancer survivors.  This can include things like assistance dealing with insurance companies, help getting a second and third medical opinion, preserving fertility before cancer treatments, and helping with finances.

If you’d like to learn more about LIVESTRONG’s mission, I encourage you to check out this video.  More photos of the Ski 4 Yellow event can be found here.
